Awards and Honors

ACE Awards
In 1999, the CKC took action to express its long-standing respect for the exceptional bond between humans and dogs, as well as its appreciation for the countless ways in which dogs significantly contribute to our lives. This initiative led to the creation of the CKC Humane Fund Awards for Canine Excellence (ACE), which had its inaugural presentation in 2000.

Breeder of the Year
Every year, the CKC recognizes an outstanding purebred dog breeder with the Breeder of the Year Award. This award honors breeders who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the health, temperament, and quality of purebred dogs. At a special ceremony during the CKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin, one breeder (or pair of breeders) is acknowledged in each of the seven Groups. Afterward, one of the seven Group recipients is selected as the Breeder of the Year.

Community Achievement Award
The Public Education and Government Relations Divisions present this award four times annually to recognize exceptional public education and government relations efforts. Recipients receive a certificate of recognition, and their club or federation receives $1,000 to further public education and strengthen government relations within their community. Nominations are accepted year-round, with awards granted quarterly.

Lifetime Achievement Awards
Established in 1998, the CKC Lifetime Achievement Awards honor individuals whose years of dedication have made a significant impact on the sport at the national level.

Outstanding Sportsmanship Award
This award recognizes individuals who have made a notable difference in the sport of purebred dogs, exemplified the CKC Code of Sportsmanship, and been active, valued members of an AKC member club.

Paw of Courage
The CKC Paw of Courage award is given to recognize the sacrifices made by working dogs while serving and protecting our country. It specifically honors dogs that have been injured, fatally wounded, or have displayed extraordinary heroism in the line of duty.
